We are looking for a new member for our Big Data team.
The team has end to end responsibility for Big data platform. We don’t just work with data, the range of our work is much wider. We install new Hadoop clusters for customers and subsequently take care of them-checking health status and updating them. We also develop new applications, taking care of security and designing and developing all the platform methodology, governance, etc.
We work with various tools and technologies. Our administrators spend a lot of time with Cloudera Manager and in command line. They make their life easier with Ansible scripts. Developers are mainly focused on writing code in Scala, Spark and Python, occasionally in SQL. Analysts are the ones who talk to business most. Anyway each of us tries to be acknowledged for whole the big data environment.
Since we reside in different time zones, we mostly hold the meetings in the morning and get to more focused work after lunch. The team is distributed between two locations – Prague and Brno.
You’re main responsibility is going to be ensuring that all clusters run without any issues. If that happens, you should find the root cause and do precautions. Also, you should prepare some solutions in Ansible and run this solution in all clusters. Because you know Cloudera Hadoop by heart you are able to perform performance optimalization (YARN resources, quotas), secure data using Kerberos, Livy and Sentry and also, take care of cluster’s capacity planning. This role isn’t just tightly connected to HW and Cloudera itself. DevOps also communicates with business partners and heavily participate on fulfilling their business needs (e.g. preparing patterns for storing mp3 files in Hadoop cluster).
A bit about you:
- Cloudera Hadoop administration experience 2y+
- Linux administration
- Ansibles knowledge
- Experience with RDBMS (MariaDB, Oracle) is nice to have
- Experience with Kerberos, Livy, Sentry, Apache NiFi, Knox
- Hadoop backups, DRC configuration
